I. Connecting the Printer

1.    Click on the Start button go to “Settings” and then “Devices.”

2.    On the left panel select “Printers & Scanners.”

3.    Click on “Add a printer or scanner.”

4.    Wait for it to search after and around 5 to 15 seconds below the printers and scanners that were searched for click on “The printer that I want isn’t listed.”

5.    A small window will pop up. Click on the drop-down box next to “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname.” Click “Next.”

6.    Change Device type to “TCP/IP Device.”

7.    Fill out the “Hostname or IP address” with the IP from the networked printer. The “Port name” will autofill to the IP Address. Click “Next.”

8.    The computer will try to connect to the printer.

9.    The computer will usually connect to the printer and if it does go to part III Final Steps.

II. If the printer does not connect

1.    If the computer cannot connect to the printer the window will change to “Additional port information required and will require drivers to be installed. Make sure “Standard” is selected.

2.    Click “Next.”

OPTIONAL: The brand of the printer can be selected but isn’t required.

3.    The printer will again try to detect the driver model.

4.    The computer will ask for the driver to be installed or if you have the disk.

a.    If the driver has already been installed you might be able to locate it by matching the manufacturer and printer model

b.    Click “Next.” If this is successful go to part III Final Steps.

5.    If you don’t have the driver installed or it doesn’t show up click on “Have Disk…”. After downloading the printer driver.

6.    When “Have Disk…” is clicked a new window will pop-up asking to insert the disk or find the driver location. Click on “Browse…”

7.    A new window will pop-up, locate the driver folder.

a.    The driver will need to be an uncompressed folder as shown in the image below.

8.    Locating the INF file could take a bit of time but once the INF file is located select it.

9.    Click “Open” the path to the file will be auto-filled into the textbox. Click “OK.”

10.    If the computers ask which drive it should use select “Replace the current driver”. Click “Next.”

III. Final Steps

1.    For the printer, name the model or what the user requests. Click “Next.”

2.    Click “Do not share this printer”. Click “Next.”

3.    Print the test page. Click “Finish.”
