Accessing Virtual Desktop

Install the Desktop Client

Note: Virtual Desktop can be accessed in a web browser, but we recommend utilizing the dedicated client for the best experience. For using Virtual Desktop in a web browser, scroll down to the "Web Browser" section

  • Open a web browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.)
  • Navigate to desktop.nsuok.edu
  • Select Install VMware Horizon Client

Install VMWare Horizon Client

 

  • Select Go to Downloads in the VMWare Horizon Client for Windows section 
    • Note: Windows is NSU's campus standard operating system. If your personal computer uses a different operating system, please choose accordingly.

  • Select Download

Download

 

  • Run the file that is downloaded
    •  Note: This step is not pictured, since it is browser dependant. The browser pictured above is Google Chrome. In this browser, the download will appear at the bottom of the window
  • Depending on your cmoputer's security settings, it may prompt for an Administrator username and password. If it prompts, "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device," select Yes
  • Click Agree & Install in the window that pops-up

  • Wait for the installation to complete, then click Finish

  • Click Restart Now if you have saved all your work. Click Restart Later if you are not prepared to reboot your computer

 

 

Access the Client

  • Open the VMWare Horizon Client from your start menu
  • Double click Add Server

 

  • Enter desktop.nsuok.edu in the text box that appears

 

  • When prompted, enter your NSU username and password then click Login
  • Double Click Windows 10 - Non - GPU

 

  • Wait for the client to connect your session, then enjoy working from off campus!

 

Web Browser

  • Open a web browser (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, etc.)
  • Navigate to desktop.nsuok.edu
  • Select VMware Hroizon HTML Access

 

  • Login with your NSU username and password
  • Select Windows 10 - Non GPU

 

  • Wait for the client to connect your session, then enjoy working from off campus!

Note: Your experience may be slowed by access Virtual Desktop via web browser. We recommend installing the client on your computer
