Setup AnyConnect VPN

Download AnyConnect Client

To begin, log in to NSU Guest on campus or another network off campus.

Once you are online go to vpn.nsuok.edu.

This will take you to the VPN sign-in page. The Group should be set to NSUVPN. Enter your username and password then click on Login.

1) Click on the Start AnyConnect link that appears in the screen to the right of the menu.


 

2) This will open the AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client window. Make sure the Platform Detection and Java Detection boxes in the left pane are checked and then click the AnyConnect VPN link in the right pane.

Note: The Platform Detection function should detect what system you are on and provide the proper link for your system. If you are on a Mac or running Linux and this fails the first time, please try again.

3) The application will download.

Open the download as appropriate to the browser you are in, in Google Chrome click on the dropdown arrow on the download notification, and select open.

Scroll to the appropriate section depending on whether you are using Windows or macOS

 

Setup AnyConnect on Windows

The Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client Setup Wizard will open. Click next to proceed.

1) The next screen will contain the End User License Agreement. Read the contract and if you agree select the radio button that says I accept the terms in the License Agreement. Then select Next at the bottom of the window.

2) On the next window, select the Install button. A pop-up window will appear that ask: Do you want to allow this app from an unknown publisher to make changes to your PC? Select Yes.

Note: You will need to have Administrative rights to install this application. If you have an NSU laptop you should already have Admin rights.

3) This will start the installation process. Wait for the Wizard to complete the installation and select the Finish button.

Cisco AnyConnect is now installed on your computer. The first time you click the Start button Cisco AnyConnect will show as recently added. After the first time, it will be available in the All Apps feature under the C section you will see Cisco and a drop down arrow. Click the arrow and you will be able to select the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client.

1) When you open AnyConnect a round blue and white icon will appear on your task bar near the Show Hidden Icons option. A pop-up window will also appear for you to connect.

2) The first time you connect you will need to type vpn.nsuok.edu. Then click Connect.

3) A sign in window will open and you will need to enter your NSU UserID and Password.

Setup AnyConnect on macOS

Note: You will need to have Administrative rights to install this application. If you have an NSU MacBook Pro you should already have Administrative rights.

When the download is complete click on the download button on the Dock and select the AnyConnect option to open.

A window will open showing the Cisco AnyConnect app. Click the app icon to proceed.

The Install AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client window will open.

1) Click the Continue button.

2) The next screen will contain the End User License Agreement. Click the Continue button. Read the contract and if you agree select the button that says Agree. Then select Install at the bottom of the window.

3) A window informing you that the Installer is trying to install new software will open. On a University Mac you will need to enter your Password or on a personal device follow directions based on how you have configured your device. Then click on the button that says Install Software.

4) A window will open telling you the installation was successful. Click the Close button to continue.

5) The Mac may ask you if you wish to move the Installer to the trash, you may decide and select appropriately.

Close all windows and Safari.

Open the Finder and you will see the Cisco AnyConnect file.

1) Select Applications in the menu to the left to see the Cisco file. Notice that to the right of the Cisco file icon there is an arrow. When you click on the file the pane to the left will show the Cisco AnyConnect Mobility Client you just installed.

2) Click on the Cisco AnyConnect Mobility Client and you will see two things. First, the pane to the left will show the Icon that represents the application and second a VPN: Ready to connect window will open.

Make sure the text area contains the text vpn.nsuok.edu then click the Connect button.

A window titled Cisco AnyConnect will open. Make sure the Group field is set to NSUVPN and enter your NSU UserID and Password. Select OK.
