VoIP Phone Features and Usage

The Cisco VoIP 8945 phone is the standard NSU campus phone

Camera & Lens Cover Button
The camera is the circle at the top middle of the phone. The lens cover may be opened and closed using the slide button on the top edge of the phone right above the lens. Video will only work on campus connections, and if both phones are video enabled. The green Video Camera light means you are transmitting and the red light means your video is muted.

Line Buttons
The four buttons to the left of the screen are the line buttons. The screen will display the extension assigned to the phone next to the top button. Any additional extensions may be listed next to other line buttons, but they represent other lines that may be answered. 

Softkey Buttons
The four buttons that are below the screen are called softkeys. Softkey options will change based on current selections.. Look at the screen above the softkeys to view current options. 

DND stands for Do Not Disturb. This turns the ringer off. The softkey toggles this feature on and off.

The number pad is the standard 12 key, zero to nine layout with the star and pound keys.

Press the voicemail button, enter PIN, press #. Initial PIN is 1234. When on campus call voicemail at

extension 5555. When off campus call 918-444-5555. When you access voicemail away from your desk,

press * and follow prompts. Your ID is your extension number and PIN is your password.

Transfer Button

Transfer Button

Press the transfer button, dial the extension, and press the transfer button again. 

Conference Button

Conference Button

On an active call press the conference button, dial number, then press the conference

button again.

Hold Button

Just press the hold button to place a call on hold. Press the flashing line button, press the

Resume softkey, or press the hold button again to resume call.

Use these keys to navigate menus on the screen and select options.

Dial a call
Pick up handset, press unlit line button, press New Call softkey, or press the speakerphone button.

Answer a call
Pick up handset, press flashing line button, or press the speakerphone button.

End a call
Replace handset, press End Call softkey, or press the speakerphone button if hands free.
