Posted 09/06/2019 - goNSU Portal Update

ITS is pleased to announce an updated portal which is scheduled to go live on September 11th, 2019.

What has Changed?
The overall look and feel of the goNSU portal has changed. The design is modern and clean. The updated goNSU portal is also mobile friendly! Your information within goNSU has not changed. Your Faculty/Advisor, Employee, and Student tabs are the same and the information under these tabs can still be found in the same modules.

Why the Update?
The existing portal has become outdated, vulnerable, and unsupported by Ellucian. Although the vulnerabilities and risks are low it is important to us that we provide a safe and secure technology environment for the university. Our team has worked diligently to create a new portal for your ease of access, and to strengthen our compliance with the Oklahoma State - Information Security Policy, Procedures, and Guidelines and the Department of Education.

We highly recommend reporting any issues, broken links, or errors to the NSU IT Service Desk. We understand transitioning and changing services can be difficult and are happy to assist you!
Thank you for your patience as we work to improve technology services to NSU.

Posted 7/25/2019 - Delegated Access for Departmental Email Accounts

ITS is pleased to provide a more secure and efficient way for you to access shared Departmental Email Accounts through Delegated Accounts. A departmental email account will now appear in your NSU Email Account as a Delegated Account.

Why the Change?

Sharing passwords for Departmental Email Accounts poses a security risk for NSU. Departmental Email Accounts have historically caused frustration to the NSU community as well. By transitioning to delegated accounts, we can aim to remove frustration and provide relief for your department! The transition to delegated accounts will also provide individual accountability, access control, and transparency to these accounts. The change will improve NSU's email security practices and strengthen our compliance with the Oklahoma State - Information Security Policy, Procedures, and Guidelines.

We Need Your Assistance!

To make this transition as smooth as possible we need your assistance. Please complete a Delegated Account Access Request through the IT Client Portal by September 23rd, 2019 for a Departmental Email Account you manage. Please specify the Names and Usernames of the employees who should have Delegated Account Access to your departmental email account.

To learn more about how this change will function moving forward please read the Delegated Account Access knowledge base article for information on how to access a delegated account.

Posted 7/18/2019 - Office 2019
Greetings Faculty and Staff,

ITS will be updating Microsoft Office to version 2019 as part of our campus standard software updates. All NSU computers will start updating on Wednesday, July 24th, 2019.
To minimize work disruptions, the update will begin at 7:00pm and will run in the background.

For NSU Laptops, we recommend connecting on campus with an ethernet network cable and logging into your account. Time required for software updates and patching depend on several factors, and may take up to several hours. You may continue to use the laptop during this time as the updates will be installed in the background even if the laptop is locked.

This update will not affect your Microsoft Office 365 license and installations.

About Office 2019:
Microsoft has released the newest versions of the Office suite. Office 2019 offers a few new features including new motion graphics, editing tools, formulas, and more. The overall look and feel of the application has not changed except for fresh designs of the icons.

Posted 6/26/2019 - Blackboard Profile Editing
Students, Faculty and Staff can now safely edit their profiles in Blackboard. This will help facilitate building online communities within fully online programs. Individuals may edit any field that has a pencil icon appear while mousing over it, as well as your profile picture. Non-editable fields include: studentID, email, and full name. For these fields, the change must be made in Banner. In cases of Full Name and Username corrections, this process will need to start in Student Affairs for Students and Human Resources for Employees.
