Policy & Process
Effective immediately, NSU ITS will require all users to verify their identity before any changes can be made to their accounts. This new policy is being enforced due to an increase in unauthorized individuals attempting to impersonate users to gain access to their accounts. The policy is implemented for the safety and security of user accounts and to protect sensitive information from unauthorized access.
Verification Process:
- Visit the IT Service Desk in person: Users may bring a state-issued or NSU-issued ID to verify identity in person at the Service Desk located on the Tahlequah campus only. The Broken Arrow campus cannot accept walk-ins for this process.
- Academic Advisor Authorization: While in an active meeting (either via Zoom or in person), users’ academic advisors may contact the IT Service Desk on their behalf to confirm that their identity has been verified and request that the appropriate changes be made to their account.
OR
- Zoom Meeting: Users may join a scheduled Zoom meeting with an IT Service Desk representative. A link to the meeting will be provided upon request.
- Proof of Identification: During the Zoom meeting, users are required to present a valid state-issued or NSU-issued ID to confirm their identity. The ID must be clearly visible and legible.
- Account Verification: Additionally, users are required to provide two of the following: Banner ID (N Number), NSU Username, date of birth, or middle name.
- Account Changes: Once identity confirmation and account verification are complete, the IT Service Desk representative will proceed with the requested account changes.
Failure to adhere to this policy will result in delayed or denied service from the NSU IT Service Desk, as we are unable to proceed with account modifications without proper identification and verification.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in maintaining the security of NSU user accounts and safeguarding personal and institutional data.
